Charging connector, one of motorcycle plastic part, have connecting with the key; oil charging, motorbike body. Compare with other motorcycle plastic parts, this one is a small part.

But its design need to well matched the whole motorbike profile design.

Charging connector part over moulding with copper inserts. Because of this, we have to consider to provide enough space to put these inserts inside the mould during mould design stage. So this kind of mould need mould factory with rich experience in making motorcycle part mould..

Mould factory is good at making mould design, plastic injection factory good at making plastic part design. But we don’t know the detail design which client prefer, so the part design completely provided by us, the design cost will be very high. The best way and the most economic way is that part design provided by client, we make design analysis. As mould factory know better than plastic products factory the design can be made successfully from mould or not.

Part design DFM analysis is one way to check the part design fit for the injection moulding or have to change the design. We provide client all the part DFM analysis report, so client can make the changes on the 3D part design according our report.

The next process is making charging connector 3D mould design. The detail information, such as part plastic material, injection molding machine specification, are required to provided by client. The important information like: plastic raw material shrinkage rate, flow rate, injection machine tie bar distance, SR size, knock out drawing, etc.

As normal scooter part mould, tooling process is similar with other moulds. Above is charging connector mould picture. We can find from this photo, the mould tooling finished is rough. That’s right. This picture showed connector mould just finished CNC milling tooling – a kind of rough tooling process of mould.

Eye bolt holes drilled by simple drilling machine. This is one of manual drilling machine, hole diameter depends on the drilling bit diameter, depth controlled by machine manually.

Charging connector mould precise tooling need high speed CNC engraving tooling. As scooter parts have many assembling between many parts. So each part sizes have to be controlled strictly according the drawing request. Almost all the scooter moulds have to be like this.

After high speed CNC engraving tooling, we start to assembling the charging connector mould. At the same time doing the parting and adjusting job. As mould finished with high speed engraving tooling, so mould almost no parting job, just the insert block which assembled on the mounting housing will request the parting job.

When found sizes different with drawing is out of tolerance permissible range, we need to correct the sizes by cnc engraving or EDM tooling.

Before mould trail, mould have to be polished. And if client need to make any texture on the mould, will be made on the mould after mould test sample sizes and surface finish confirmed. The reason why can not make the texture early is because if need to make modification on the mold, the texture will be damaged.

After all tooling process get done, charging connector mould will be deliveried to mould test factory to test the mould.

Charging connector mould test samples will be sent to client to inspect them. Due to new design motorcycle need to check all the parts assembling, so each time mould trail need to produce 20-30 pieces quantity samples to assemble testing motorcycle.

After mould test samples quality confirmed by client, mould can be delivered to client’s factory.

After clear charging connector mould and paint the mould, we can pack the mould.
