1). Tank hugger plastic raw material.
Tank hugger plastic raw material is PA6+30%GF. The advantage of this material is small sink mark, high hardness and high strength. For this reason, the protection part made with this material is quite good.
2). Tank hugger plastic material shrinkage rate.
PA6+30%GF shrinkage rate is 0.5%. Detail shrinkage rate according client’s plastic material specification. The shrinkage rate is one of the most important data for the mould design, so we have to make sure it is correct.
3). Tank hugger part 3D design.
Only by enduring hardships can one become a superior person. Our team are working very hard on each mould project, especial our design department. As in order to short the delivery time, our design department often working over time. The initial tank hugger 3D part design provided by client. Most times these initial 3D design need to be improved us to fit for mould production.
4). Tank hugger mould project DFM analysis report.
DFM analysis is quite necessary for tank hugger. We make the part design improvement according the DFM report. After client confirmed the improved tank hugger part 3D design, then we can go on the mould 3D design.
5). Tank hugger mould 3D design.
As we are professional scooter part mould factory, so it is a simple job for us to design tank hugger mould. But anyhow moulds are belong to client, they need to check and confirm the mould structure design before start tooling. This is good for both client and mold factory.
6). Tank hugger mould steel.
Tank hugger mould steel is P20. This steel is good enough for it. As normally this mould only use for 2-3years, then have to make new part design mould. For China market, scooter moulds changing is higher frequency. Due to higher competition, scooter moulds often only use for one year. So P20 steel for tank hugger mould is more than enough.
7). Tank hugger mould machining.
Just similar with other scooter part mould, tank hugger mould need cnc milling tooling – one of the main rough tooling for the plastic injection mould industry.
Above pictures are tank hugger mould finished cnc milling rough tooling pictures. After this tooling process, mould will go on with drilling holes tooling, include cooling lines, and ejector pins holes. Cooling lines and ejector pin holes often tooled by deep hole drilling tooling. By this tooling, the long distance holes can be tooled straightly.
Wire cutting machining for tank hugger mould. This tooling process also called EDW for short. Used to cut the places which need to install the inserts on the mould. Include both place on the mould plate and insert.

High speed CNC milling tooling. This is a type high precise tooling. The mould sizes controlled better than tooled by high speed CNC engraving tooling. This tooling process often used to tool auto part mould, scooter part mould and other industrial products moulds.

8). Tank hugger mould runner system.
Two points hot sprues or call it two points hot runner big gates. With this runner system design, tank hugger can be full filling simply. This design was according DFM analysis. Scientific and reasonable working methods can save time, cost and make the mould with high quality.
