More and more young people are in love with motorcycle driving sport motion. So sport motorcycles are in great demand, and price high. How to design the motorcycle profile looks sport is a key job. Side panel as one of big part of the motorcycle profile, its design is quite important. Therefore side panel mould play a decisive role.

1). Side panel plastic material.
This part can be made with ABS and PA66+30%GF. Detail plastic material according client’s request.
2). Side panel plastic material shrinkage rate.
Both PA66+30%GF and ABS shrinkage rate is 0.5%. But different plastic material flow rate is little different, so need to identify which detail plastic raw material for this part, then we can finally test the mould with that material before mould delivery to make sure the mould running well with that material.
3). Side panel part design.
We will provide DFM analysis report for the initial 3D design from client.
Client can improve the part design based on feedback information from the DFM analysis report. Well, client also can point us to change the part design for them.
4). Side panel mould design.
Mould design is mould factory’s job. But client can ask for special requirement on the mould structure.
The most important is the plastic material specification. We can get the shrinkage rate and flow rate from it. Second is the injection machine specification. And some other request such as cooling fitting standard.
Once mould design confirmed by buyer, we can go on the mould steel cutting job. Normally only after client confirm the mould design then can go on the next process. This is important.
5). Side panel mould steel.
This mould core and cavity plate is P20HH steel. Client require higher hardness, so steel hardness treatment is higher than normal. But we not suggest to treat P20 hardness to HH, as the probability of the steel get crack much higher.
6). Side panel mould runner system.
Side panel mould runner designed with 3 points hot runner big open gate into mould, then cold runner enter into products area.
7). Side panel mould tooling.
a). CNC milling rough tooling.
Not only core and cavity plates need cnc milling rough tooling, but also some other plates need this tooling.
Side panel mould cnc milling tooling taken about 10days. Mould is a little big, so need such long time for this tooling process.

b). Side panel mould cnc high speed milling tooling.
CNC high speed milling tooling is a kind of tooling process which have higher precise on the sizes controlling and better surface finish. Of course the cost is higher, because normally CNC high speed milling tooling machine price is higher than cnc high speed engraving tooling machine.
c). Side panel mould EDM machining.
This mould need 2 times EDM machining. First time, mould without some spare parts assembling, second time, mould assembled with all the parts then did the EDM tooling.
First time EDM tooling, mould without sliders and lifters.
Second time EDM tooling, sliders and lifters installed in mould. EDM machining the detail on the sliders and lifters together.
d). Side panel mould assembling and parting.
Parting line matching job is last and important process. This process need workers with rich experience. But good machining can make this job simple, or even no need to make parting job. This will affect the mould quality, however depends on the mould price. Never expect to get more than you spend.
e). Side panel mould test.
Side panel made with PA6+30GF. Many scooter part moulds designed with PA6+30GF shrinkage rate. This material have very slight sink marks compare with other material. This plastic raw material have high request on the hot runner system. Hot runner have to be high quality. PA6+30GF plastic part is hard and strong strength, so can be used as profile protecting parts.
f). Side panel mould delivery.
Mould have to be cleared and all the parts need to be mounted on the moulds. Then mould surface painted and packed with export standard wooden case.
